Malignity (Woerden/Gouda), live on air.
Recorded: Friday November 25th 2016, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Black Ghost Horse/Damiën/Cry For The Van Queen/Immortal Hate/Blood Lust.
Note: revamping the ‘Doorgeplugd’ concept, studioboss John challemged me, by proposing this 5 piece Heavy Metal band. Challenge accepted! Which turned ouit great, with making funny faces throughout the set, trying to make others laugh and intense, focused music throughout the set. During the show, the premiered two prerecorded tracks, of which one was an impromptu decision. Two days later, I still suffered from painfull belly muscles from laughing.

Gen D Experiment 'Live On Air', friday October 14th 2016.
Gen D Experiment (Zoetermeer/Delft/Gouda), live on air.
Recorded: Friday October 14th 2016, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: General Disarray/Faking It In Montreux/Two Rivers/Hacienda/Gone Wrong.
Note: one-off Progrock project that ran quite out of hand and is now a steady band. Second gig only, first ever live ‘On Air’, so they used some tracks as an online demo. With former members of a.o. Gandillion, the music was inventively structured. Young keyboardist (13) sure played a big part in the whole sound, which is great to hear. Fun time in the studio, despite hardly any space left to walk.

Maggie & The Jar 'In Session', friday August 12th 2016.
Maggie & The Jar (Amsterdam/Gouda), In Session.
Recorded:Friday August 12th 2016, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Half A Heart (Take 1)/What You Want Now/Feel Me/Half A Heart (Take 2).
Note: this female fronted rockband from Amsterdam dropped by the studio for a prerecorded interview and three acoustic songs, prior to their gig in local club ‘Studio Gonz’. First ever acoustic set came out greatly. First sonmg was retaped, as there were a few mistakes. As the whole thing was filmed by the band, a videoclip of ‘Half A Heart’ was published on Youtube the next day, merging images of both takes over the second audio take. Great warming up for the set they played later that night.

Ricky de Sire 'Live On Air', friday July 22nd 2016.
Ricky de Sire (Rotterdam), live on air.
Recorded: Friday July 22nd 2016, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Koester De Hoer/Gratis Kalenders/Minister President/De Vreemde Psyche/Smerig Zusje/Nevelen Der Toekomst/In Het Dove Oor.
Note: second visit by Rotterdam alternative singer-songwriter Ricky de Sire, bringing along a keyboardplayer (Arpatle) and a guitarist. Great, slightly disconnected songs, that shed a complete new angle on daily things. Somewhat loud voice throughout the set, which was filmed by a team from a nationwide operating label. Love it!

The Surfaders 'Live On Air', June 17th 2016.
Surfaders (Gouda/Zoetermeer/The Hague/Utrecht), live on air.
Recorded: Friday June 17th 2016, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Creature From Beyond The Reef/Beware Of The Ghost Rocket/The Cuban Spy & I (Shaken, Not Stirred)/Dust From The Sun/Thoughts Of A Bikini Philosopher/Sarpha/Teenage Rendez-Vous/Sharkbait/Apache (The Shadows, but Metallica-lized).
Note: great surfband, consisting of members formerly active in Metal, Punk and Progbands. Focussed, relaxed set, with a huge tongue-in-cheek cover at the very end. Despite it being a rainy day.

Huxley 'Live On Air', friday June 10th 2016.
Huxley (Haastrecht/Gouda), live on air.
Recorded: Friday June 10th 2016, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Lovers Season/Me And My Brother/The Day.Sundance/Mind At Large/On My Knees/The Living/Echoes (Pink Floyd).
Note: former Quip! Guitarist Chris Stubbe started Huxley in 2015, after a shortlived solo singersongwriter career, he didn’t feel comfortable with in the end. The trio is well inspired by the likes of The Doors and Pink Floyd, while blending their blues-driven, slightly psychedelic sound with motre contemporary tunings.
Getting their gear into the studio was another thing, as both the Hammond and it’s accompanying rotating Lesley speaker were just an inch smaller than the hallway we had to squeeze it through. The unusual door- and bike removing did the trick in the end, making this a great, powerfull performance. The final minute of “Echoes” was nearly cut by the earlier end of the show, but a quick pushing of buttons got it saved for eternity.

Meijer 'Live On Air', friday May 20th 2016.
Meijer (Rotterdam/Maastricht), live on air.
Recorded: Friday May 20th 2016, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Het Voordeel Van De Twijfel/Miles Davis In Parijs/De Liefste Leugen (Session).
Note: former school teacher Ruud Meijer revisited the city he taught pupils English and French for 21 years, to promote his recently released Dutch language album ‘Vrouwen’. Together with Nick Roelofsen they played two songs during the show and chatted so long, the third track was scrapped from the broadcast and recorded afterwards. Amazing jazzy tracks.
