2nd semi-finals ’Grote Prijs van het Groene Hart’ (Gouda/Woerden/Schoonhoven/Alphen ad Rijn), 2-track recorded.
Friday June 5th 2009, 2009, 'de Gonz' Gouda.
Note: After 12 years there was another band-contest organised. Initiated by ‘Plug Unit’-related ‘Rockschool’ in Reeuwijk, 20 bands played ‘De Gonz’ (Gouda), ‘Bastille’ (Schoonhoven’, ‘Kasteel’ (Alphen a/d Rijn) and ‘Babylon’ (Woerden), to get a spot in the finals held September 19th at ‘So What’ in Gouda. Making a merely last minute decision to record the night, I plugged a Flashrecorder into the PA at the very last minute. The recordings aren’t extremely well, but suitable for broadcast, after some digital reworking. ‘Roove’ won this evening.
Handsome Poets (Gouda/Reeuwijk).
Tracks: Kite Flight/Metamorphosis/This Train/Joy To The City/The Blues/Attitude/Carry The Day.
Note: this band started as a Praise/Gospel-unit, but switched to the more worldly music of Rock and Pop, with a slight touch of Funk, when singer Tabitha left. The band now plays two circuits, doing not quite bad at all.
Sheep & Guitar (Alphen a/d Rijn).
Tracks: Spider/Boom-Chic-A-Ba-Ba/Confusion Of Power/Knockin’ On Bathroom’s Door/Together/People/Smelly Socks.
Note: young Funkrockers, who didn’t impress too much this night.
Roove (Utrecht).
Tracks: Coming soon.
Note: Rock and Pop, with a touch of Funk. Still looking for a solid sound, made them win this night nevertheless.
Common People (Utrecht).
Tracks: Coming soon.
Note: young, eager band, playing a mix of Britpop and Belgian inspired rock and Pop. Didn’t do their best gig, but won the audience award.
The Mondegreens (Gouda/Moordrecht/Utrecht).
Tracks: .
Note: Punkrockband, which seem to play not at their best, at certain moments. Came in last, after playing at a Birthday Party in a stable, between haystacks and tractors in the freezing cold. Showed to have progressed majorly in a years period of time, but didn’t impress.

'Kogel Door De Kapel'-Festival,Jeruzalemkapel Gouda, Friday December 20th 2013.
Kogel Door De Kapel-festival, 2-track recorded.
Friday December 20th 2013, ‘Jeruzalemkapel’ Gouda.
Note: three acoustic performances set in a candle-lit medieval chapel with phenomenal acoustics. Sold out completely, the sets were captured with a simple stereo recorder put in front of the performers. Capturing not only the music, but also the sounds, laughter and noises from the audience.
Organising duo Nancy Brick opened with their stripped songs, closing a huge string of livingroom concerts, that started October 2012. It was their last liveset right before the start of writing and recording material for their second album, due somewhere laste 2014.
Second to play was local singer Alex van Holstein, bringing his irony-loaden songs with much more passion than you might even think. Alas he withdrew recording permission at the last minute, so nothing of him was recorded.
Rotterdam singer Mark Lotterman played a truly breathtaking sets with new material, to be released on his 4th CD Year ‘Without Summer’ in February 2014. Nancy Brick (Gouda/Delft), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Violins/In Your Mind/Sail/Pirate’s Ocean/Mountain/The Road/Nancy Brick/Silence.
Mark Lotterman (Rotterdam), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Intro/It Ain’t Only Sorrow/Scenes From Childhood/The Hell That We Create/I Miss You/Year Without Summer/Rolling Stones/I Woke Up (Thinking That They Hate Me)/Hit Me When I’m Weak /Funny (Encore).

Vromannacht, 2-track recorded.
Friday September 16th 2011, ’Openbare Bibliotheek’ Spieringstraat, Gouda.
Note: 7th edition of local annual festival to honour Gouda born poet Leo Vroman, now living in New York. Local schooltalents and bands that are more up to the ladder perform a mixture of sets, comprised of covers and self-written material. Collegues from the station were asked to get this edition aired live on the station, so they came to me with the request to incorporate my airtime with this broadcast. I agreeed and helped out presenting, interviewing and, as it turned out, troubleshooting. This merely concerned soundmen, unwilling to coöperate. Firstly they refused to give us the negotiated submix and tried to make us agree on the lesser air-quality PA-mix, which I refused to accept. We got our submix, but of somewhat strange balance and configuration. Which turned out okay on the radio, as the intended stereo internet connection blew and we had to switch back to the backup mono transmitter. After that things run smooth, untill the ‘Handsome Poets’ soundman decided to cut us off. Despite protests from us and even the organising team, he persisted. So I called the management, explained the situation and got the signal promised. After being texted by the manager, the soundman opened up the channel again and we could air the second part of the set anyway. Two dark spots on a more than pleasant radionight.
Tracks:Central Blue Band-Higher Ground (Stevie Wonder)-Live This Life (Part)/Goudse Waarden Band-Killing In The Name Of (RATM)(Part)/Lenette, Jorik, Jake, Daniël & Jip-Nobody’s Wife (Anouk)/Micha-I Wished/Jaimy van Vliet-I’ll Be Fine (Snippet)/School’s Out-Dancing Shoes (Arctic Monkeys)-Feeling Good (Muse)- (Snippet)-Beggin’ (Madcon)- Are You Gonna Be My Boy (Jet)/Marith van Dijk-Hold Your Hand Forever (Snippet)/Emily, Louise & Band-Son Of A Preacher Man (Dusty Springfield)(Part)- Because Of The Beat (Part)/Sophie van Diest-Someone Like You (Adèle)/Antonius Huisband-Wicked Way-Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Im Yours (Stevie Wonder)-I Can Count On You-Time Won’t Wait.
Note: a selection of schoolbands and solo-artists from secondairy Schools from Gouda, playing a mix of covers and some self-penned songs. Notable names are Micha, Jaimy van Vliet and Marith van Dijk.
Skin Filtr8r (Gouda).
Tracks:
Note:Spoken Word/Performance-artist Rik van Zutphen, who used to be vocalist of Hiphop-Jazz-Soul outfit ‘Vorm’, finalist of the 2000 edition of ‘Grote Prijs van Nederland’. Using laptops, beamers and samples, he created an electro-like set of unknown titled tracks.
Nancy Brick (Delft/Gouda)
Tracks:The Mountain/Pirate’s Ocean/The Road/Turner/Green
Note: former ‘Corbelijn’ members Ron Valeri and Rieneke Batelaan requested to perform inside the café next to the library, instead of getting on stage. This, to keep the serenity and fragile character of their music more intact and to create a more cosy livingroom feel. They settled in front of the radio-unit and played a short, fully acoustic set in front of an audience, partly seated on the floor. Two mikes were used to pick up their set and to air it. The recordings come from the original broadcast, instead of the direct PA-signal used to record the night.
Eefje de Visser (Utrecht)
Tracks:Schip/De Stad/Trein/Ik Dacht Na/De Koek/Hartslag/Genoeg/Afdwaalt
Note: Eefje, a veteran when it comes to playing this festival, returned for this seventh edition with her full band for an intriguing set. Despite some missed notes and becoming overwhelmed by coughing during ‘Genoeg’, she mesmerized many.
Gras (Utrecht)
Tracks:Vriendin/Misschien/Vliegtuig Van Papier/Dat Zal ‘Leren/Hij Gaat/Het Einde
Note: Gouda originating Desiree Coumans formed a Dutch languaged Singer Songwriter-duo with Erwin Tuijl by the end of her Conservatory study and came to perform here, augmented by two members of her other band ‘Nona’. By the time they started the volumes had been turned up so high, the signals came in crackling, destroying most of the recordings by overload-fuzz. All that is left useable, is the mono recording of the broadcast itself.
Rick (Gouda).
Track:Freestyle.
Note: impromptu performance right after the ‘Gras’ performance to kill some time and to fill the gap between their performance and that of headliner ‘Handsome Poets’. Exploding effects, due to incoming overloaded signals, so unsuitable for broadcast. Also not included in the broadcast.
Handsome Poets (Utrecht)
Tracks:(We Can’t Be) Saints (Part)/Call Back Tomorrow)/Blinded/Dance (The War Is Over)
Note: started in Gouda as a Gospel/Praise unit, but decided to turn more worldly in the summer of 2008. With great effort, as they not only won ‘3FM Serious Talent’ Award in april 2011, but also scoring a string of hits. Performed the more important fesivals during summer and came here for a headlining gig cut short for time reasons. The start of the gig wasn’t broadcasted, as the technician decided the show wasn’t to be broadcasted, despite agreements with the management. A short phonecall to the manager resulted in the second part of the set to be aired, missing the first three tracks. As we were not allowed to record the gig, no recordings do exist. A fan however, provided us with the setlist, so we can tell you, which songs were broadcast.

This line-up featured two future members of later hitmakers ‘Handsome Poets’, as well as other young talents, later to emerge as Singer-Songwriters.

Acts from 6 schools sang, danced or played classical music to win a prize. 'Me & My Sister' won. This line-up featured two more future members of later hitmakers ‘Handsome Poets’, as well as other young talents, later to emerge as Singer-Songwriters. This edition nearly didn’t happen as the newspaper that initiated the previous two editions and also okay-ed this third edition, was taken over by another newspaper, which didn’t like the idea. Since production had already started, cancelling the event would have costed the same amount of money as executing the plan, so the choice was quite obviously simply. Alas this did mean the event to stop after this edition.

'Ouwe Gouwe' Festival, April 17th 2010.
’Ouwe Gouwe’ Festival 2-track recorded.
Saturday April 17th 2010, ‘So What’ Gouda.
Note: A new, indoor festival, mixing young new bands with more experienced ones and some briefly reüniting for the occasion. I made kind of experimental live-recordings, using a new mixing desk to make my own mix of the unprocessed 14 lines with sounds from the stageblock and recording it on a Flashrecorder directly. Although not perfect, it gave quite usable results. Despite strange things happening, like two signals coming from 4 different lines. Or not at all!! Which meant ‘Plugging by chance’ with every new set! Challenging and frustrating at the same time.
Slice (Of Merlin) (Gouda/Bodegraven/Rotterdam/Oudewater), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Flying Pig/Beware/Boring Day/Roots Under My Feet/Heart Of Darkness/Extatum (Part)/Soft As Water.
Note: One of the local legends, mixing influences like ‘The Doors’ and old ‘Pink Floyd’ to a melodic, multi-layered and inventive sound. Considered by many as their ‘Comeback’-gig, it turned out to be their one-but-last! To the amazement of many, including myself, they announced their swansong for June 4th during this performance. Which got postponed, as their guitarist broke his wrist three days prior to that. Their final, sold out gig was on Saturday November 6th 2010 in local club ‘De Gonz’. ‘Extatum’ was only partially recorded, as their set lasted longer than the space on my flashcard, used for this gig.
Kelvin (Gouda), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Running Away.
Note: New band from ‘Sportclub De Volharding’ guitarist. Recorded one track only, because I had shortage of memory to get every note by every band. Regrettably.
Quip! (Gouda/Haastrecht/Waddinxveen), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Try My Friends/Too Much Of A Bad Thing/Last Time Bright/Lost In Life.
Note: Shortlived reunion of this Blues-infused slightly psychedelic Rockband, done for the occasion of this festival. Great to see them back on stage for one more time.
Horizon (Gouda/Reeuwijk/Boskoop), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Screaming Out Loud/Can’t You See/Lifestyle.
Note: Information provided to me announced them as a youg coverband, who turned out to play female fronted Rocky pop with some self-penned songs. I captured 2,5 track, after fighting ‘disappeared’ lines, resulting in one of the voices not being fully audible.
Usual Suspects (Gouda), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Return A Favour/You Can’t Hold Me/I Don’t Know/Runaway/Victim.
Note: Young Rocking Punkband, making their first proper stage-performance.
Slang Dang (Gouda/Reeuwijk/Bodegraven), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Alone/Love/Slang Dang Fever/Café/Hell Of A Party.
Note: Another band that reunited for the festival. Mainly rehearsed drinking beer (as rumour goes), the set was somewhat loose, but nevertheless one of the highlights of this day in my opinion. Truly great to see them back playing their Metalized Funky Bluesrock on stage, since they decided to give it another go after this gig.
Summer Breeze Project (Gouda/Rotterdam/Utrecht/Amsterdam), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Power/In The Meantime/Omerta/Goin’ Down/Master & Servant/PTSD.
Note: Ambitious and quite successful Prog-rockband from the area, played a short, but intense and very concentrated set.
Eve Of Dawn (Gouda/Haastrecht), 2-track recorded.
Tracks:/Welfare State/Unapproachable/Frightened.
Note: Another band that reformed for the festival and decided to give it another go. They played some New Wave infused Alternative Rock. After splitting up in 1995, members emerged in bands like ‘Velvet Lane’, ‘Quip!’ and ‘Mother Of Pearl’. Guitarist Wilbert van Straten used to be a classmate in Secondairy School and had to give up guitarplaying early 1997 due to RSI. But this day he was there again!
Flowdown (Gouda/Bodegraven/Rotterdam/Oudewater), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Another Day/Flying.
Note: Nu-Metallish Grungeband that came to the scene in the early 90’s under the name ‘Conquistador!’. Nearly everything changed from line-up to genre, except for the guitarist. I was only able to record the firstst two tracks of their set, as one of the memorycards used to store the recordings, ran out of space. Alas.
Ammocave (Gouda), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Magic Anger Blender/Stronger Stuff/Answers/Face The New Moon.
Note: Sort of ‘Comeback’-gig, after being inactive for quite some time, due to several changes of frontmen in the years past. Slightly loose, though reasonable convincing set by the band of one of the Festivals’ instigators!
Poultry (Bodegraven/Reeuwijk/Gouda), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Hypocrite/My Friends/Speak Up/Responsability/High Standards/College Years/Kiss Of Betrayal..
Note: Steaming hometown gig by this Punkrock outfit, that’s got their EP out in Japan on a local label. Aired few new tracks that night and served as a perfect warmup for headliner ‘Blind Justice’.
Blind Justice (Rotterdam), 2-track recorded.
Tracks: Intro/Stuck In My Mind/Weazel/Brainless/Life Is Bitter/Boulder/Cage Of Fear/Social Failure/Breathe/In Exuilibrium/Are You Different?.
Note: Farewell-gig by this ‘legendary’ Gouda originating Metalband, that started off as a schoolband and made it it to major stages, festivals and TV-shows, both under their own moniker, as in a package with Dutch languaged Hiphop-pioneers ‘Osdorp Posse’. They once appeared on an international Metal-sampler with ‘little known’ bands as ‘Sepultura’! Leaving the ‘bass-in-a-box’ at home, singer/guitarist Attila Szabo switched to bassguitar for the occasion. Playing songs from throughout their career, they said closed the BJ-book, to start writing a new one under the name ‘3AM’ (‘Three Angry Men’). As I ran out of memorycards, the last 40 seconds of ‘Are You Different?’are missing. Alas!
Saturday April 17th 2010, ‘So What’ Gouda.
Note: A new, indoor festival, mixing young new bands with more experienced ones and some briefly reüniting for the occasion.
Tracks:
Alas!

Vromannacht, September 7th 2007.
Vromannacht 2007 (Rotterdam), 2-track recorded.
Friday September 7th 2007, Garden of the Public Library, Gouda.
Note: Annual evening of poetry and performances by pupils of the ‘Leo Vroman College’, in honour of the Gouda born poet Leo Vroman, now living in New York. Last minute decision to record this night resulted in recording the PA-signal onto portable Minidisc, getting a brief stereo sound.
The Mondegreens(Gouda/Moordrecht/Bodegraven).
Tracks:That One/The Museum/Raindrops/You Fight/The Wrong/Unknown.
Note: Promising Punkrockband, who never really got there. First gig after 5 months of doing exams, celebrating Summer holidays and getting introduced for studies. Nevertheless quite nice gig.
Maaike Ouboter (Gouda).
Tracks:Reminiscing/Untitled/How.
Note: Upcoming Si/So writing her own material, in coöperation with lyricist Eva Seignette. ‘How’ was performed together with Sophie Vlasveld.
Desiree Coumans Band (Gouda/Utrecht).
Tracks:The Other Side/Broke My Heart Twice/You Make Me Sick/Cryin’ Eyes/Born Loser/Tomorrow Is Coming/I Gave My World/.
Note: Feedback drenched gig by one of the most promising young female singers of last few years. Performing with her shortlived ‘Desiree Coumans Band’.

Staalplaat Sound System, July 1st 2004.
Staalplaat Sound System (Amsterdam), 2-track mono recorded.
Thursday July 1st 2004, ‘haagse School Voor De Kunsten’, The Hague.
Tracks:Impression.
Note: While interviewing the organising team of ‘state X-New Forms’ festival, they took me to one of the festival-sites, to get a preview. This was the moving sound-installation of Geert-Jan Hobeijn, of experimental sound-collective and label ‘Staalplaat’. I wandered between intriguing constructions made of supermarket trollyes, fans, vacüum-cleaners, teaspoons, plastic bottles and all kinds of other noisy materials and recorded a 6’23” lasting impression, which was aired during the broadcast of the interview the next day. Considered lost, I rediscovered it on one of many improper marked minidiscs in my archive (Nov 2010).

Notes: This was a regional musical contest for students from secondary schools in the area, organized as part of promotional activities to boost up the amount of readers for regional daily newspaper de 'Goudsche Courant'. Acts from 6 schools sang, danced or played classical music to win a prize. 'Temporary' won.
Initial recordings were made and mixed on 4-tracks for broadcast purposes, but as there was anti-phasis and other distorting noise, theatre-technician Dennis van Driel was asked to provide us his 24-tracks recorded 'works' for further broadcasting purposes. These were first aired Friday November 21st by 'Going Underground' and 'Why You', skipping the dance-acts, as these simply don't have any succes on radio, unfortunately.
Of the 4-track recordings only 'Temporary' and 'Desiree Coumans' survived, as the recordings provided by Dennis made the others not interesting enough to be kept and the Minidisc was erased. A tape-copy of these recordings however is in possesion of the editorial crew of the 'Goudsche Courant', as it was 'flash-crashed' onto their desks October 10th as 'on the cuff'-mix runthrough, 'for quick listening only'!

'Vers Uit De Vest'-Festival - 'So What' Gouda, June 9th 2001.
'Vers Uit De Vest'-Festival, 4-track recorded.
Saturday June 9th 2001, 'So What' Gouda.
Indicate (Gouda, Haastrecht, Reeuwijk).
Tracks: Intro/Unknown/It’s Your World Too/Good Times For Us/Unknown/Still Unknown/Demon In Family/(‘Stretch Armstrong’ cover)/Unknown/The Luck/Indicate!/Difficult Sincerity.
Note: final hometown-gig of the band. Though slightly chaotic, the band played a great gig and had a party, playing home again. Guitarist Simon split his head, when he hit a stagelight in sheer enthusiasm. Had to be stitched up after the gig, which he finished with some Band Aids. Dissolved after short European tour in July 2001. Members later turned up in bands like ‘Malkovitch’ and ‘I Reject’.
Lame Art (Gouda/Waddinxveen/Reeuwijk).
Tracks: Coming soon.
Note: right after the release of their ‘Spanks Man’ EP, the band played a slightly experimental set, inspired hugely by ‘O.K. Computer’ of ‘Radiohead’. It turned out to be their final hometown-gig before reforming as 'Clockwork' in different line-up.
Mint (Gouda, Londen).
Tracks: Intro/Just Another Daytime/Rain/Caroline/Tell Me What's New/Monday To Monday/Members In Water/On Your Own/When The Day Is Over/Wrong Come Along/Where Have I Been.
Note: after the gig, the band was told by ‘indicate’ bassplayer, they sucked. Which the band heard, shrugging their shoulders afterwards. An unknown quantity of CD’s with these recordings were sold by the band. Which I never knew. Singer Maurits later became frontman of Utrecht based ‘Gem’.

'State-X'-Festival - 'Korzo Theatre' Den Haag, May 5th 2001.
'State-X'-festival.
Saturday May 5th 2001, 'Korzo' Theatre The Hague.
Note: this was the first edition of this Festival, few years before it merged with the ‘New Forms’ Festival. Organised by a.o. a former classmate, I joined in withy the fun to make recordings of ‘The Ex’ and ‘Feverdream’. Learnt a lot about hardware to be taken with me next time.
The Ex (Amsterdam/Wormer).
Tracks: Burnsome/Fistfull Of Feed/The Chair Needs Paint/Town Of Stone/Haydays/Oskar Beck/Submarines/Karaoke Blackout/Time Flies/River/Spruitjes/Stupid Competitions/Lump Sum Insomnia.
Note: due to a faulty cable from the PA, the recording is made in anti-phasis, which means that one signal is minus to the other. When played MONO, the soundboard-signal will vanish, leaving just the venue-sound, which is hollow. This was only discovered AFTER broadcasting.
Incense (Delft/Den Haag/Rotterdam).
Tracks: The whole set consisted of 38 minutes of improvisation in 3 parts.
Notes: as the organisation wasn't fully prepared for me making recordings, the necessary Soundboard-output wasn't available, leaving just two mikes in the back of the small hall available for recording. As the improvised pieces proved interesting, though not quite suitable for broadcasting-purposes, nothing will be done with them anyway, so no harm done. One small bit of the performance is missing though, due to the inevitable tape-change.

'Moordrecht 2000'-Festival (Day 2) - Soccerclub Moordrecht, July 1st 2000.
'Moordrecht 2000' Festival (Day 2), 4-track recorded.
Saturday July 1st 2000, Soccerclub Moordrecht.
Note: as most of the bands played covers, I decided to tape the first 25 minutes of every gig only, except for the headliner on the second night, which I got complete. What these recordings have in common, is the lack of bass-sound. Several tracks from these recordings were used for the compilation-CD that was issued two months after the event. Copies of the recordings were also issued to the local radiostation in Moordrecht, but these seem to be gone since then.
Oeroeg (Moordrecht).
Tracks: Knock On Wood/Superstitious/Need Your Love So Bad/Julie July/Wishing/Walking By MyselfLike A Lady.
Note: coverband.
Capra (Moordrecht).
Tracks: Cinnamon Girl/Paint It Black/Still Believe/Memories/A Forest/Refugee(??/All Over(?).
Note: coverband, the worst one of the festival probably.
Licensed To Kill (Moordrecht/Gouda).
Tracks: Fool For Your Loving/Summer Of '69/Flirten Op De Dansvloer (Dancing In The Moonlight)/When The Lady Smiles/Enter Sandman/Vrij Spel (Allright Now).
Note: coverband, announced as the festival’s turnoff, but made quite a party with it’s false vocals! ‘Baby When You’re Gone’ got skipped, as the intended duet with ‘Scent Of Incense’-singer Jessica fell through due to a bad cold.
Just A Groove (Moordrecht/Utrecht/Amsterdam).
Tracks: Just A Groove/Love The One You're With/Carwash/Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now/Lady Marmalade (Voulez-Vouz Coucher Avec Moi?)/Rock Steady.
Note: another not too bad coverband.
Wicked Mickey (Moordrecht/Gouderak).
Tracks: Intro/Look Who's In The Sky(Breakdown)/Look Who's In The Sky/Suicide Killer/Walking Down The Street/Silence/Leave Me/Juice/High Prize To Pay (Part).
Note: funky rockers and asolute favourite with (especially female) youthfull audience. One of very few bands with own material. Definetely had potential, but split up few months later.
Travellin' Groove (Moordrecht/Utrecht/Vleuten).
Tracks: Laat Het Vanavond Gebeuren/Unknown/Mamma Said/Hold The Line/Pick Up The Pieces/So What!.
Note: semi-professional partybsand, playing Dance Classics. Singer/Guitarist Eric programmed the festival and edited and co-produced the compilation CD.
AJ.Mharyo (Den Haag/Moordrecht).
Tracks: Way To Heaven/Cold Turkey/Why Can't This Be Love/Colours/Calculation/This Gun Is For Hire/Killing In The Name Of/We Can't Go On/Burn.
Note: straight-on melodic hardrock, at the virge of break-through. Which never materialized.

'Lentepop 2000' Festival - Gouda, May 27th 2000.
Lentepop 2000'-festival, Gouda. 2-track recorded from 4-track premix-signal.
Saturday May 27th 2000, 'Lentepop 2000'-Festival Gouda.
Note: To capture most of the festival, a CD-recorded recorded the stereo pre-mix I made with my 4-track recorder directly onto CD’s. During the first songs the organiser, who owned the recorder, paused inbetween tracks. This resulted not only in intermitted recordings, but, as the guy was having conversations at the same time, missing parts of songs as well. Later on, he was too involved with other things, so the Cd was left running from end to start. After the festival, the CD’s vanished, untill summer 2003, whewn all but one (‘Aeolus’) re-appeared. They’re now in my archive.
Aqualung (Gouda/Reeuwijk/Haastrecht).
Tracks: Jesus Saved Me/Locomotive Breath/To Cry You A Song/Aqualung.
Note: Tribute to ‘Jethro Tull’ by local musicians.
Quip! (Gouda/Haastrecht).
Tracks: Try My Friends/Trap/<4 more unknown songs>.
Bad Wurm (Gouda).
Tracks: The Rib-Off/Christian Grandma/Monstertruck/Demon/Gunslinger/Mr Lee.
Note: slightly chaotic, but nevertheless quite intriguing performance by this ‘Blender-rock’group, blending various styles together to one specfic ‘cut-n-Paste’style.
Scent Of Incense (Gouda).
Tracks: Dreaming/Fantasy/Addition/Perfect Girl.
Note: this gig was cut short, as the band took their instruments on stage directly from the warm dressing room. As it was cold and windy, they de-tuned during the first two songs. After a 15 minute break, it was decided to play one more song. I thought I’d recorded the complete gig on 4-tracks on request of the band, but discovered it was also captured on CD.
3 AM (Gouda).
Tracks: Song/Fit For Life/Get To You/To Match Her/The Pain (?)/Why?/Hedonism/With Or Without.
Note: one of very few gigs by this band, which rose from the ashes of ‘After Dark’ and at that time freshly disbanded ‘Gandillion’.
Little Wing (Moordrecht/Gouda).
Tracks: Wasted/Fire/Get Back To You/Are You Gonna Go My Way?/Steal Away/Frozen Rainbow/Snowblind/Gangland/Breaking The Law.
Note: band from organising crew, playing covers and showing off on stage. Ironically this Cd got processed faulty in he recorder, so can’t be played in normal way.
Big Deal (Gouda/Reeuwijk).
Tracks: Hush/Party Town/No Mans Land/Right Here/Matopos/Don't Stop Me Now/Jump.
Note: coverband, managed by one of the organisers for a short while. Released a self-penned CD few years later.
Aces (Gouda).
Tracks: Intro/Death/Come Back/Walls Of Ebony/Master Of Puppets/Aces/Court Deny(?).
Note: Last gig with founding guitarist Edwin, who died Jan. 4th 2001 on complications of diabetes. The band didn’t know their gig got recorded, so were in quite a shock, when they got word from it.
Slang Dang (Gouda/Haasstrecht).
Tracks: Loser/Pretty Little Girl/Hey You Say/Small Place/ Mercy/Slang Dang Fever/Cafe/Hell Of A Party.
Note: the band had so much fun, they wanted to play along. The discussion and attempt they did, was captured as well.
Aeolus (Gouda/Haastrecht).
Tracks: Vicious Circle/Anonymous Embrace/Come Here My Love/Dust On The Mirror/Forbidden City
Note: Debut performance of this Prog Rock band. As the recording quality was way under the bands’ standards, they refused to release the recording master. Got a copy from their former singer in 2004, completing the set of recordings, plus this information.
Travis Walk (Gouda/Den Haag).
Tracks: Intro/Texas Flood/Get Me A Bug/Love Struck Baby/Little Lover Boy/600 Blues/Close To You.
Note: well oiled machine, playing stampin’ blues. Few years later the band played their final gig at the same festival, as the singer decided to dedicate all of his time to the career of his wife, Dutch pornstar Kim Holland.
Blind Justice (Gouda/Rotterdam).
Tracks: Intro/Bloed Uit Je Oren/In Equilibrium/Coming Home/Lost In All/Cage Of Fear/Life Is Bitter, Life Is Sweet/Short Jam 1/Pissed/Weasel/Short Jam 2/Make Me/Outro.
Note: Slightly overloaded recording, thus unfortunately unfit for broadcast. Last gig with drummer Andre Borgman, who went over to 'After Forever'. Seemingly last gig with their soundman as well, I understood later on, as he overloaded volumes at every gig.
