Aafke Romeijn, Live 'On Air', friday July 19th 2013.

Aafke Romeijn (), live on air.
Recorded: July 19th 2013, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Track: Boys Don’t Cry (The Cure).

Note: Inbetween releasing her well-received ‘Stella’ and her Dec 15th 2013 released ‘Chin.Ind.Spec.Rest’ albums, Aafke dropped by the studio to fill the listeners in on both releases, as well as some news on her band ‘Mr Blue Sky’. Besides playing an unmastered track from her upcoming album, she played this beautifull cover version of The Cure’s landmark song. Original plan, playing tracks from ‘Stella’ and ‘Chin.Ind.Spec.Rest’, failed as her electric piano was too big to carry to the studio from the outskirts of the centre, while parking in front of the studio was impossible at that moment. Alas.

Ne Pas De Machine 'Live On Air', friday December 18th 2015.

Ne Pas De Machine (Rotterdam), live on air.
Recorded: December 18th 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Introduction/Rocket Robert/Love, Love, Bluff.

Note: great alternative pop trio, introducing their recently launched Christmas EP, which contained not a single Christmas track! Exactly one year after singer Michiel dropped by with That Band From Holland singer Erik-Jan (AKA St Polaroid) to play songs from their then freshly released split Christmas-EP (See that particular entry below). The atmosphere was very relaxed and hilarious, making it a great chat with three live acoustics played inbetween. Lovely show, great people!

Fee & Rick 'Demo session', suinday September 18th 2015.

Fee & Rick (Gouda, Reeuwijk), In Session.
Recorded: Sunday September 18th 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Valerie (Tk 1)/Sweet Goodbyes (Tk 1-3)/The Queen Of ??? (Tk 1)/Rick’s Song (Tk 1).

Note: got a phonecall from Fee out of the blue, asking me if I wanted to record some demo tracks with her. Took a few weeks to settle a date, before she, guitarist Rick and I, went into the studio. They were a bit nervous and, unsurprisingly, a bit shy. Opening track Valerie was done in just one take, while Sweet Goodbyes took three complete attempts. Next song crashed halfway, after which Fee got Rick to play one of his own tunes. Which I liked so much, that we recorded an impromptu version of it. Talented kids, I can tell you!

Pocket Knife Army 'Live On Air', friday September 16th 2015.

Pocket Knife Army (Utrecht), live on air.
Recorded: Friday September 16th 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Set 1:89/Unharmed. Set 2:Grow Up/Let Go.

Note: Two days before the release of their debut album, Desiree and Erwin came to the studio fully equipped. They set up their set and inbetween blocks of interviews, performed two intense sets of Electropop songs, which was both amazing to hear with and without headphones. Due to a renewal in studio equipment, some connectors were changed accidentally, causing the whole set to be recorded in mono. Alas, but these recordings made us discover the mistake, which was then quickly solved.

Noblesse 'Live On Air', Friday September 9th 2015.

Noblesse (The Hague), live on air.
Recorded: Friday September 9th 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Set 1: Try, Slide, Fall/Dawn Of The Age/The One With The Gun. Set 2: Eat, Fuck, Sleep/Excess Baggage/Sleeper.

Note: as the program that recorded during my shows called it a day, there was room for a bit more volumes. So I invited The Hague based Indieband Noblesse to do a low volume electric set, which they agreed to do. As monitoring didn’t go as great as planned, The set, divided in two parts for an interview, didn’t completely gell, but the performance was great anyway. Due to a renewal in studio equipment, some connectors were changed accidentally, causing the whole set to be recorded in mono. Alas.

Tessa de Koningh 'In Session', Friday August 21st 2015.

Tessa de Koningh (Gouda), In Session.
Recorded: Friday August 21st 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: That’s Where/Letting Go.

Note: this was supposed to be a live broadcast, but at the crucial moment of switching from automatized radio to live radio, the system went down completely. As Tessa and keyboardist Dion Jansen were all set to go, I decided to proceed anyway and prerecord the show for near future. The rest went very well, with a very interesting interview and two tracks played live. The show got aired a month later. The system has run smoothly ever since by the way.

Skapiche?! 'Live On Air', Friday July 17th 2015.

Skapiche?! (Gouda), live on air.
Recorded: Friday July 17th 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Breakfast @ 6 PM Medley.

Note: chatting about both their brandnew EP ‘Breakfast @ 6 PM’ and updating on their new singer Rose and what happened inbetween, four of the nine members played a specially created acoustic medley of some of the EP tracks. Not used at all playing acoustic, they nevertheless did quite well. But we agreed to do an all amped set live at a later date. Still great performance and lively chat

Deaf Charley 'Live On Air', Friday June 19th 2015.

Deaf Charley (Arnhem), live on air.
Recorded: Friday June 19th 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Bureaucrats/Letters/Desert.

Note: Bluesy Garage-trio introducing themselves live on air. Very driven, but somewhat hesitating, as they rarely play live acoustic. Nevertheless a great introduction.
