Julian 'Live On Air', Friday April 3rd 2015.

Julian (Woerden, Krimpen a/d IJssel/Lekkerkerk), live on air.
Recorded: Friday april 3rd 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: One Summerday/Our World/Autumn Leaves.

Note: a band consisting op people older than me for a change. Reformed few years before, after initially breaking up some 40 years Ago, the band irregularly performs, balancing between the demand on covers or self-penned material. They serve both in a very rocking and grooving way. One of their first acoustic performances, which was given a great jazzy voice by singer Netty, while being very melodic at the same time. Another hidden gem that came to surface.

Snoeshaen 'In Session', Friday march 20th 2015.

Snoeshaen (Gouda/Moordrecht), In Session.
Recorded: Friday march 6th 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Endlessly Blue/Recipe For Happiness/Wicked Games (Take 1-2) (Chris Isaak)/Lucky (Take 1) (Daft Punk & Pharell Williams)/Rise Up (Eddy Vedder)/Lucky (Take 2) (Daft Punk & Pharrell Williams)/You Belong To Me/Scar Tissue (Snippet) (Red Hot Chilipeppers)/’Petr’s Pingel’.

Note: Stef and Petr of the band dropped by a program recording in the adjacent studio, to promote the 'Huiskamer van de Stad Gouda’ festival, having prepared several songs. As the program only had time for one song plus a short interview, I invited them to do an impromptu session afterwards. On which they agreed. With the recorder running nonstop, they recorded 11 tracks in a quite relaxed mood. While editing the session, I intermingled some inbetween banter with the interview they recorded before the session, making it a completely different event and mailed it to them.

The Tambles 'Live On Air', Friday march 6th 2015.

The Tambles (Gouda), live on air.
Recorded: Friday march 6th 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Don’t Bother/The River Still Flows/Destination.

Note: young quartet with a very healthy appetite for 60’s music (Byrds, Stones etc), which influences they not only translate in great covber versions, but also in their own material. A week before they released their debut 10” (also on CD), they paid a visit to the program and played three driven tracks inbetween chatting about their music, ambitions and what else came to the matter.

Mary Syll 'In Session', Thursday february 26th 2015.

Mary Syll (Dordrecht), In Session.
Recorded: Thursday February 26th 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Lucy/Shut Me Up/Kiss Me.

Note: originally from Poland, she started a career as a model, while working at a venue inbetween. Sparked by the enthusiasm on her music by a member of ‘Focus’, she quit modelling and started studying at Rotterdam conservatory COARTS. To promote her upcoming gig at ‘Studio Gonz’ in Gouda, she dropped by to tell more about her music and to perform three tracks from her 2014 album. Singing over pre-recorded backing tracks is always a tricky mixing business, but it was pulled of very decently, making it a great session.

Pip Alblas & Justin van Reijen 'In Session', Thursday february 19th 2015.

Pip Alblas & Justin van Reijen (), In Session.
Recorded: Thursday february 19th 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Proof/I Blame It All On You/Take A Walk With Me/Something On The Side.

Note: things went fast and great with Pip after her previous visit to the studio: she joined a local fgestival, which not only made her meet the love of her life, but also got her in touch with a group of creative musicians. Which were quite supportive, when she was selected for nationwide TV show ‘The Voice Of Holland’, which she left before the Battles started. Concventrating on a possible musical career, she funded her upcoming single and video clip by pl;aying livingroom concerts. To promote these, she took Justin to the studio, to tell more and to play four songs. Despite being quite tired, they worked out very well.

Pocket Knife Army 'Live On Air', Friday february 13th 2015.

Pocket Knife Army (Utrecht), live on air.
Recorded: Friday February 13th 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Wolf Of Memphis/(Unknown)/When She Becomes A Rose (Working title: De Zee).

Note: after the demise of ‘Nona’ members Erwin Tuijl and Desiree Coumans started a new project, based on the crossover of electronics and rock. Performing three acoustic tracks during their visit to the studio, they once more proved their potential. The last track however run beyond the end of the show, but was recorded off air, so could be aired complete in later shows.

David & The Circumstances 'Live On Air', Friday january 9th 2015.

David & The Circumstances (Rotterdam), live on air.
Recorded: Friday January 9th 2015, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Perfect/All Across The Sea/It’s Not You.

Note: to promote his then forthcoming album, David played three beautifull, slightly introvert and somewhat fragile, moody songs inbetween a chat on his album and music.

Rob Klerkx & The Secret 'In Session', Saturday december 27th 2014.

Rob Klerkx & The Secret (Amsterdam), In Session.
Recorded: Saturday December 27th 2014, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Wait For Me/America & Me/Carry My Love/Come Home.

Note: on his way to a local instore to promote his October 2014 album ‘Magnolia’, Rob and his band came to the studio for a chat and four acoustic songs. The whole thing was recorded as if it was a live show, taking a bit more time than when aired live. So the last track exceeded the time available when aired, which was solved by airing it on following shows.

That Band From Holland & Ne Pas De Machine 'Live On Air', Friday december 19th 2014.

That Band From Holland & Ne Pas De Machine* (Rotterdam), live on air.
Recorded: Friday December 19th 2014, ‘Gouwestad Radio Studio 2.
Tracks: Rovanimi/Don’t Swallow The Glitters, Gary*/Me, The Snow & The Tree*/Jolasveinar.

Note: the broadcast before Christmas the singers of both ‘That Band From Holland’ and ‘Ne Pas The Machine’ joined me in the studio, t6o tell more about their yearly habit of recording a Christmas-EP during the blistering summer. Inbetween both singers played two beautifull acoustic renditions of some of their tracks.
